George, our gentle giant, is 12 years old, a 16.2hh gelding, born and bred in South Westland.   His breeding is a Clydesdale X.

As a youngster George was used as a trekking horse, hunted and completed the most revered - Cavalcade.   He was sold to family in Springston who owned him for several years.  While in their care he enjoyed hunting and trekking with them as well.

George was recently purchased by CRDA through a grant from the Christchurch City Council.  He has settled into his life as a therapy horse very quickly and the riders, especially the children, who see this gentle giant coming towards them are awed and delighted when he gently puts his big head in their tiny hands.

In his short time with us George has captured the hearts of all the riders, volunteers and coaches that have worked with him.  We are excited to have him as a much loved member of our wonderful equine team.
